Home Bussiness by a Direct Selling

What You Need to Know Before Starting a Direct Selling Business

What Company Is Best For You
When deciding if a direct sells business is right for you, there are many options to consider. There are a lot of reputable companies out there that will enable you to make a nice commission income for selling their products. While some companies might be a perfect fit for what you're looking for, some companies might not be so helpful. So, how do you decide which company is best for you?
Don't Be Afraid To Ask Questions
When searching for the best direct sales company for you, the best advice would always be to ask questions. Don't be afraid to ask questions and do your research. Here are a few questions you could ask before taking that leap into a new direct sales business venture.
  1. How much money will you make? Beware of the get rich quick schemes and companies that promise you will make thousands of dollars in your first week. It takes time to build anything of worth, and your direct sales business is no different.
  2. Do I have to meet sales quotas? Sales quotas are mandatory with some companies that you sell a certain amount of product within a certain timeframe. If you are not very experienced in sales, this can be very stressful for many people and can cause many to leave a company.
  3. What are some consultant success stories? Getting the testimonies of other consultants or reps that have been in the business for over 1 year is a great way to gauge the success of a business. Is there a large turnover rate with reps? What advice can other reps give you to help your business grow?
  4. Is training provided? When starting a direct sales business, training is the key to your success. Ask if training is available to you and how often will you will receive it. Be sure to question if training is free or will it cost you extra. What about support? Do they have a consultant's support group or are you on your own to figure it out?
  5. Is their plan based on multi-level marketing? Multi-level marketing or MLM is a strategy in which the reps get paid for their sales as well as the sales of their team members or those they recruit to the business.
  6. Are there any monthly charges? This is a very important question to ask. Are you required to pay for products each month, shipping cost, training cost, hidden fees, sales quota fees or late charge fees? Be sure to count up the cost before you set out to build your new business venture.
  7. Are there any contracts? With some companies, If you decide the business is no longer for you, are you penalized for terminating your membership. You are required to sign a binding contract with the company stating that for a certain amount of time, you will continue to pay the monthly fees regardless of if you are an active rep or consultant.

Most people start their own business so they can have flexible hours, be their own boss and the supplement or replace their income. Patience is a virtue that many try to skip. Business building takes time, patience and hard work. Keep your real goals and mind when you are evaluating the companies out there. And remember to ask questions!

Great Way of Success

Great Ways To Find Success With Your Home Business

Most people say that starting a home business is hard. They say that the income associated to it is not stable and that it is meant to be a part- time job and cannot act as a full-time job. This article will talk about tips on how to achieve success in having a home based business.
A great tip for your home business is to ensure that you know exactly how much it costs to manufacture the product that you are selling. Knowing this will give you the numbers you need to accurately judge what to charge for your products. In general, you should retail your product for twice the amount of your wholesale cost, and this should be twice the amount of production costs.
To get more business from the Internet, the domain name that you choose is important. You want to pick a name that has meaning. It will help others remember it more, and your customer's won't have to do a lot of searching on the Internet to find your business site.
Go through publications issued by the IRS to make sure you are filing for taxes correctly. The IRS has a lot of helpful resources for small business and home businesses. If you follow these guidelines carefully, you can reduce what you have to pay in taxes and avoid claiming things you should not deduct form your taxes.
Do not get caught up in multi-level marketing and get-rich-quick schemes. Your home business should be a legitimate idea, that sells a product or service. If you start gearing yourself towards what seems too good to be true, then you are spinning your wheels. Devise a solid business plan of your own and attain the resources to make it come to life.
Talk to someone who is already involved in the home business that you are considering pursuing. Sometimesm the idea of a business sounds a lot better than the actual execution. Talking to someone who has been there, will help you decide if it is really something that will work for you.
A great tip for your home business is to make sure that you always maintain a professional appearance. People will want to know what you look like so be sure to put your picture on your website and if you do not look professional you may lose the business of customers who might already be undecided.
To attract more traffic to the website of your home business, register your website with as many search engines as possible. Write a good description of it that will make people want to visit your website when it comes up in search results. Look into search engine optimization to promote your website.
With these tips in hand, achieving success in having a home based business is far from being impossible. Like any other thing, knowledge accompanied with the drive to do something works hand in hand in achieving success. If these tips are followed, you will be able to get a good size income from the comfort of your own home.

Freelance Home Business

Naming Your Freelance Home Business

If you want to be taken seriously, you will need to name your freelance business. Make sure that your business name reinforces the image that you want to project for your company. For example, one of my websites names is AllFreelance.com. You automatically know from the name of this site that it has to do with freelancing. Try to do the same thing with your business name. Don't choose a business name that you will have to spend much time on promoting or explaining what it means. If you are a graphic designer, try to use "Studio" or "Creative" or other buzz words in the name unless you don't mind clients looking past your company because they aren't quite sure that you are a designer.

My company's name is Deezin Studios. Originally I thought that everyone would understand that "Deezin" was just an intentional misspelling of "Design" but it didn't quite work out that way. I always land up having a 5-minute conversation with clients about my company's name. "How do you pronounce Deezin?" I really don't mind; it is a great icebreaker. But, the point is that since "Studio" is one of the buzzwords in my business name, clients always know that my company is a design company.

Another thing you want to remember is that the world is categorized for the most part alphabetically. Try to choose a name that starts with a number or a beginning alphabet letter. Watch out with numbers though because some directories, including dmoz.org, will categorize by the first letter in the title. In other words, if you name your business 1Design, dmoz.org would categorize under the "D". Since most web surfers don't go past the first search engine results page, it is important to start your name with an A, B, C, or D.

You probably are thinking, "Great, I am done!" Nope! You should register your business name with your county. They will need to check your name against previously filed names to make sure the business name you chose isn't already taken by another business.

Just imagine working for months or years with an unregistered business name and then getting a notice in the mail to stop using someone else's business name. You would have to start all over from scratch again. You would have to toss your business cards, letterhead, envelopes, invoices, and everything else you printed for your company into the trash. And what a disaster you would have created on the web. You would have to find everywhere that is linking to your page and ask them to change your business name. What a mess! So, register your business - it is worth it!

Before you fill out the paperwork to register your business name, pick 3 names, so you don't have to refile if they reject your business name. Also, scan your phonebook and do web searches to make sure that you cannot find the name that you have chosen. I recommend using mamma.com or google.com for your search.these are the 2 most comprehensive search engines on the net.

Now that you have registered your business name, go on ahead and print business cards, letterhead, and invoices. The business name you have chosen belongs to you!

The Way of Success

The Three P's of Success!

Starting and building an Internet business is not an easy task. There is the never-ending learning about promotion, marketing, website design and building, technical problems, HTML, cgi, java; the list goes on and on. There are a few things you should think about when you are planning your online business. These three things are some of the most basic yet most important aspects that could make your business a success!

These are Perseverance, Passion and People!

**Perseverance - Building a successful online business can take months or even years. Examine your goals and your life.

Will you have what it takes to not give up when things are going bad?

Do you have the determination to work this business for weeks or months without making any money?

Do you want to give up most of the small amount of spare time that you now have?

Go over these questions in your mind and see what you come up with. Despite all the "get rich quick" ads you see, this most likely will not happen. Most people will not even get rich slowly, however, you can make a good income.

You might start making a small amount of money in a few weeks or months, then you might not make any for a few months. You must not let yourself give up, when business is not all it's cracked up to be! You must have Perseverance!

**Passion - When you are choosing your business, build your business around something that interests you, something that you are passionate about. This will help you keep going when things get tough.

Will I want to work with this business everyday?

Does this business interest me enough to keep my determination going?

Will my passion override any doubts that I will have about becoming successful?

Ask yourself these questions and see what the answers are. You cannot build a successful business around something you have no passion or knowledge about. If you are nuts about horses, build your business around horses, not cats! You must have Passion!

**People - When you are working an online business, you have to get involved with people. It may not be face to face, but you will have to deal with people from all over the world, everyday. Treat everyone with respect and answer all questions in a timely and courteous manner. You must also be able to deal with rude people. Treat these people with respect also. Be firm, but courteous. Rarely have I had to deal with this problem, but it does come up.

Do I want to have to deal with all those people on a day-to-day basis?

Can I handle all the different situations that can arise when dealing with people?

Can I accept the fact that I cannot please everyone and be able to handle the rejection?

You do not necessarily have to be "the life of the party" but you must be able to handle the problems that working with all kinds of people can bring. You must be able to deal with people!

I must tell you that I have made so many friends since starting Web Success. It is one of the most enjoyable aspects of Internet marketing. Web Success is the second business that I started on the Internet. With the first business, I did not take the three P's into consideration and it failed within a year.

When I planned out Web Success, I really thought about what I wanted to do and how I wanted to do it. Because of that planning I have learned a few things about myself.

I have learned that I have more perseverance than I thought possible.

I have learned that I have a passion for helping people get started with their business and that I am good at it.

I have learned that working with people all over the world has been a thoroughly enjoyable, rewarding and interesting experience.

The Way of Make Money

10 MORE Ways to Make Money with your Digital Camera

  1. Pet photos - advertise a Pet Photography business where you photograph pets with their owners. Most owners won't struggle to take a photograph with their pet all by themselves. You can be the one who makes it easy on them. Not only can you charge for the service and your time, but you can offer the photograph in it's digital form or as a print that you can mail to them later - either created by your own photo printer or by a photo processing service.
  2. Fishing contests - be around at the end of a fishing contest to take photographs of the contestants that didn't even think about bringing a camera. Most fishermen are more concerned about fishing than carrying cameras, and most fisherman also want a picture of their stringer full of fish or the big one that they're going to have mounted.
  3. Parades - be in position to get great shots of folks and floats in the parade and sell the prints back to the individuals or to their family members. The folks who take part in the parades are often way to busy to take pictures before or after, so someone who captures them in action might really be doing them a favor - and a profitable service.
  4. Landmark and tourist photographer - if there's a famous landmark in your area, offer your photography services to tourists who want their photo taken in front of it. Even if the tourists are carrying a camera and get someone else to take their photo, often the camera won't be digital with a display so it means the tourists won't know how the picture turns out until they're long gone. With your digital camera, you should be able to show them it's a good picture.
  5. Graduations - preschool, high school, or college graduations offer dozens, if not hundreds of opportunities to capture a significant moment in someone's life. If the family members of the graduate aren't located in as good a location or don't have as good a camera as yourself - you'll have even greater opportunity at getting the shots they couldn't.
  6. Holiday Family Postcards - offer your services to families that want their picture taken and put on a postcard that they can send to their extended family and friends. By using your digital camera you can not only get photo-postcards through online photo-processors, but you can make the prints available in your online gallery and have the customers refer their extended friends and family there to purchase a larger print if they desire it.
  7. Photo Novelty Items - take photographs of people that want the pictures of themselves of their loved ones imprinted on coffee mugs, mouse pads, keychains, tee-shirts, and other items. Usually you can find suppliers of such photo-transfer merchandise and equipment in business opportunity publications, such as "Mind Your Business 101: How to Select & Start Your Own Business".
  8. Used Car Photos - work out an arrangement to take snapshots of cars for used car dealers who don't have photographs of their current inventory. If any of the car dealers don't have websites that need photographs you could, provide an additional service by learning how to make and maintain a website of their inventory.
  9. Promotional slideshow production - taking digital photos of a convention, church, business, college campus, or other promotable location - you can create a digital slideshow on Video CD or DVD for your customers to promote their business, organization, or event.
  10. Newborn photo service - parents of newborns are some of the busiest people in the world. Advertise your services on an on-call basis so that you can take informal snapshots for the growing family either before they leave the hospital, or after they get home. This way both parents and the child(ren) can be in more of the pictures all together, and the parents have one less thing to try and figure out.

The Way of Success

The Number 1 Rule for Businesses - Be Professional

Have you ever walked into a store and things looked sloppy?
Stores should have nice neat displays, right? Normally,
yes, but sometimes they get a bit messy on busy days and we
all understand how that can happen.

But what if you were to walk into a store as soon as it
opened in the morning and the place looked liked it had
been ransacked? What would you think?

You'd probably think it wasn't very professional-looking.
If a rack of shirts was haphazardly thrown together, with
all the styles, colors and sizes mixed up, you'd probably
walk right past it without giving it a second glance.

If a sales associate wouldn't answer your questions or help
you find something, you would consider that unprofessional,
too, not to mention rude.

When we do business in the offline world we expect a
professional appearance and professional manner from those
who deal with customers. The same is true for online
businesses.

Your business depends on how professional you are. Your
website, your customer service and the appearance and
quality of your work all reflect upon you, the business
owner.

Two key factors of professionalism:

1. Good Customer Service/Relations

2. Quality Appearance and Writing Skills

Recently I had problems submitting information to several
websites. After trying for several days I finally e-mailed
for technical support. (After all, the website owners had
messages posted that said to contact them at any time.)

I didn't expect an immediate reply to my inquiries. I know
they're busy running their businesses, and dealing with
other people, too. But I have yet to receive any replies.

Where is the customer service? Why would I want to do
business with someone who seems to be ignoring me? At the
very least, if it typically takes them more than a couple
of days to reply to e-mail, support questions or other
requests, they should post that information on their
website so customers/visitors know what to expect.

Without good customer service, you're shooting yourself in
the foot. Don't expect customers to buy from you if you
can't afford them some common courtesy.

A professional appearance is mandatory to your business,
also. How many times have you read an ad or article that
had numerous spelling or grammatical errors?

We're not perfect. We all make mistakes. But if we
frequently had those little red check marks on our
composition papers in school, we should probably use spell
check and have someone proof-read our copy before sending
it into cyberspace.

A prime example is a website I visited a few months ago. As
I started reading about the product the owner was selling I
noticed an error with the use of the word "our." The site
said "When you use "are" product....." OK, one little
mistake. No big deal.

However, as I continued reading, I discovered the webmaster
referred to "are" products and "are" website on the whole
page! Not once was the correct word, "our," used.

Frequently I read ads and articles that contain many
spelling or punctuation errors. For instance, "Thinking
back to when I first started my business. I had no idea how
or where to begin."

I'm not a teacher, but I can see that it should be one
sentence, not two. The writer cut off the first sentence
before actually finishing it. It's like the train of
thought came to a screeching halt. (In this case, I'm the
writer giving you an example. So if this sentence resembles
someone else's work, it was not done intentionally.)

The correct way to write it is "Thinking back to when I
first started my business, I had no idea how or where to
begin." It's one flowing sentence. Now it tells you what I
was thinking.

Another option is to change it just a bit to make it a
complete sentence. "I think back to when I first started my
business" or "I remember when I first started my business."
Then continue to the second sentence.

I'm not wanting to demean anyone or be overly picky. Ads,
web pages and articles just look much more professional
when written with no errors, or at least very minor ones.

Many customers will shy away from a website or ad that
seems poorly written or put together. The customer may see
the business owner as an amateur, therefore their product,
company or service may not be worth much.

Do your customers expect perfection? No. But they do expect
professionalism. You're running a business, so you're
supposed to be a professional. If you give a professional
appearance, they'll believe in you and your business.

The Way of Increasing

How To Increase Home Office Productivity

Working at home is not always as easy as people with "normal" jobs might think. There are hundreds of distractions home workers must struggle against. Whether it's your screaming kids and telemarketers or just the constant hunger pains from knowing the refrigerator is just behind you. Only the most diligent worker will get any work done at all.

So what do freelancers do to stay productive in their home office? They either lock themselves in their rooms chained to a desk or follow a few guidelines.

  • Home Office Design - Home office design should never be overlooked. If you decide to just simply place your computer on the kitchen counter, expect to raid the refrigerator every 15 minutes, wash dishes, mop the floor, and wipe counters. You need to understand that a home and a home office serve different purposes. When you design your home office, try to keep them as distinct as possible.
  • Dress For the Occasion - You have seen this cause and effect before in school children. Dress a child up nice and their behavior changes for the better. If you wear sweatpants and a ripped t-shirt you will feel like just lounging around. Try dressing up in work clothing. Dressing in work clothes creates a professional atmosphere. Plus, would you vegitate on the couch in a dress?
  • Create Schedules - Work from home changes the set 9 to 5 schedule. When you work at home you could easily find yourself working till 2 AM every morning. Your schedule might evolve around family commitments, for example, if your child is young and needs a lot of attention, you might find yourself working around naps. Set milestones for yourself to reach on a daily basis. Establishing your priorities and goals are your responsibility. Setting a schedule for yourself with established goals will provide the framework for a more productive office.
  • Family and Friends - There is nothing more detrimental to your productivity than a friend calling on a regular basis when you are trying to get work done. Family and friends might think that your job is not serious because you work from home. Point out to people who don't understand that you need to keep the lines free for your clients or employer during the day. If they just don't get the hint, let the answering machine pick up and screen your calls or get a second line for business and don't answer your home line while you are working.
  • Prioritize Tasks - Understanding the way that you work is essential if you are going to prioritize tasks. Find out what motivates you to work harder and what keeps you focused on your work. Reward yourself for completing a project. Take yourself to dinner or treat yourself to a massage.
  • Equipment - Don't let old equipment slow you down. For example, if you are a web designer, the worst thing you could do is buy a 28.8K modem. It is worth the money to buy effective equipment that will save you time. Time is money.
  • Take Breaks - Being trapped in your house all day could drive anyone nuts. Treat yourself to a break at least once a day. Go for a walk, read a book, or take a nap. When you get back from your break feeling refreshed, you will be surprised how much better you work.

If you follow these 7 guidelines, you will most defiantly have a more productive home office. Creating an atmosphere of a business is the most important factor in creating a productive home office. Good Luck!
